    Default Meyler or Cattermole? -PARKER!

For the holding role next year. What is happening with SP? Would love to see him at Sunderland

If we insist on playing one of our Midfielders deep next year who would it be? My preferred team ONLY INCLUDING PLAYERS HERE NOW would be:

    Gordon [if fit]
    Bardsley
    Turner
    Bramble
    Richardson

    Larsson
    Meyler
    Gardner

    Sessegnon
    Wickham
    Gyan

Cattermole needs to up his game... and if Bruce doesn't see signs of that in pre-season, cash in on him while he is still young and English $$$$$$$$

    IMO -

Meyler can do everything Cattermole can with more discipline, plus a major advantage is that he is much quicker across the ground, and his marking is actually FANTASTIC - Obviously we havn't seen too much of him but then again we havn't seen that much from Cattermole worth labelling him a top 8 midfielder - something I believe Meyler has got the potential to be indefinatly with a starting role in the side.

    5 MORE PLEASE SIR NIALL / -

    ~ Parker
    ~ NZogbia
    ~ Welbeck/Sturridge/Bellamy
    ~ R. Johnson/Brown
    ~ OShea
    ~ Gibson

If, and it's a big IF we can get Cattermole back to the fitness and performance levels he displayed for us afte signing, up to the Liverpool game then I'd be happy. If you had a middle three of him Meyler and Gardner, I doubt much would get through.

That would mean dropping one of Larsson, Sessegnon, Gyan, or Wickham.
Wickham needs games to progress [12m to sit on the bench? Plus he plays out wide left and cuts in which helps], Gyan and Sess are probably in our top 3 players alongside Gordon and Larsson is the only player whogives us real quality from set peice's.

So the two for me out of ... COLBACK, MEYLER, GARDNER, CATTERMOLE, - Has to be M&G.

But that would be an awesome defensive midfield unit I agree, but not really what we should be looking towards - couldn't really Justify playing Meyler and Cattermole in the same side - Unless we had two very stron attacking wingers. At present we don't have one. Maybe Sess, but he is strongest playing off the front.

Meyler has been out for months, when he came back he looked like he was breathing out of his arse. He then got injured again so god only knows when he'll be fit or back to his best.

To pin him in as a starting 11 for the start is optimistic at best.

As for your wish list. I don't think we'd get all of them - not by a long way

iirc Cattermole may not be fit for the beginning of the season as for Parker no he is 30 will cost around £7m and want £60k a week.

He still has four year's left on his contract at West Ham worth £70k a week, so that is a £14.6 mil contract, as I have always stated on here West Ham will be lucky to get shot of him for nowt to get him off the bill, he will be 31 in October so does not fit our purchasing profile so that will be a no for SP

I have a couple of questions?

    1. Why would Cattermole cease to be English if we didn't cash in on him?
    2. You've asked Sir Niall for 5 more players then listed 6 - will he not be confused when he reads this while having his Full Irish with White Pudding. It's this kind of thing which will cause good Chairmen to have a nervous breakdown.

He has said on 4 or 5 occasions lately in response to fans questions that he will be back for the start of the season 100%

    1. Obviously I was referring to him ageing as opposed to his nationality randomly changing.
    2. Ahhhhh ... Hopefully he'll have had a nice cod fillet for breakfast... Some good brain food, before he comes on here to keep up to date with my threads... Good Spot
