Smile SAFC legends set for November 25 branch meeting

Further details will be announced later, but this is just to advise everybody to mark the date - THURSDAY NOVEMBER 25th - in your diary or calendar.

That's the night for the next Greater Manchester Branch meeting at Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County and Sale Sharks, when our guests will include former Sunderland and England star Stan Anderson and Nicky Summerbee, one of the leading lights of the Peter Reid era at SAFC.

Stan will be promoting the new book 'Captain of the North' written by Mark Metcalf which tells the tale of the Horden-born wing-half's 500-plus games for Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough and how he was controversially sold to arch-rivals Newcastle as SAFC's promotion campaign gathered momentum.

Nicky Summerbee, the ex-Man City winger, who supplied much of the ammunition for Quinn and Phillips at the Stadium of Light, has also been in touch to confirm his attendance and it's possible other members of the record-breaking 1999 team will also be there, so watch this space!

    To reserve your tickets (£4 members and £5 non-members) email manchesterbranch@hotmail. co.uk

VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE PASS ON THIS INFORMATION TO ANY BRANCH MEMBERS YOU KNOW WHO DOESN'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS. Thanks.

Thanks to those at The Grouse yesterday who got their tickets for the Nov 25th Legends Night do. The good news is there's still plenty left, so if you want to reserve yours, email manchesterbranch@hotmail. co.uk and we'll put them aside for you.

That's also the email address if you want to book seats on the branch coaches to the Stoke and Everton games on Saturday and November 22nd respectively.

As those of you who have seen the branch newsletter will be aware, former SAFC captain Michael Gray is also set to be one of the speakers on November 25th at Stockport - his near neighbour in Greater Manchester Nicky Summerbee says he'll just bundle him into the car and fetch him along!

And there's more: CHRIS MAKIN, another star of the Peter Reid era, lives near Stockport and says he'll definitely be there. So don't miss out - order your tickets today!
