SHAY Given has emerged as a potential target for West Brom.

The Baggies have been monitoring the Manchester City goalkeeper’s situation for a while.

Given, aged 35, struggled to break into the City side this season due to Joe Hart’s form.

And the Ireland international is due for talks with City bosses during the coming period to establish his future.

A loan move might suit all parties concerned, which is where Albion will fancy their chances of bringing him in.

Given would command huge wages - and interest from several clubs - but Roy Hodgson is particularly keen to bring in at least one goalkeeper this summer and is prepared to allocate a large chunk of his budget towards strengthening that position.

The Baggies tried to sign Brad Friedel earlier this month but the veteran keeper opted for Spurs over Albion and Liverpool.[/url]

One of the most underrated keepers IMO. He is tailor made for Arsenal's situation surely. Bring him in for a few years whilst getting the young keepers there time to get used to the game.

Can also be one of the most overrated though. His shot stopping can be brilliant but has never truly commanded his penalty area.

This. For years we were told how good he could be if he was behind a better back 4 than the scum's. Then, when he moved to City and he continued to make great saves but they also conceded a load of goals, similar excuses were rolled out.

Perhaps he just doesn't command his back four well enough, and both would have been better with better goalkeepers behind them?
