Default Anyone recommend me a good tripod

    Morning lads,

I have a Canon 450d and am looking for a good quality tripod that will ideally not break the bank.

I'd like it to be able to extend to say chest height (about 5ft) and be quite study.

I'm looking to start working using long exposure and so would a remote be recommended also?

    Cheers

for remotes just look at the cheapie chinese import ones on ebay, only £2 or £3 and they are ok, well for me they have been anyway.
as for a tripod, i just have a cheap hama one at the moment which i thought was great for the price (£15) until i was up penshaw monument and it blew over and smashed the lens on my camera, luckily the camera was ok...anyway, had my eye on Redsnapper tripods for a while as they are apparently as good as the manfrotto ones that cost twice the price..have a look at there website..

Cheers Clyde, will have a look.

Hope that wasn't an expensive lens...you're lucky it didn't roll down the hill!

Went the Penshaw las time I was up watching the lads, didn't think much of the shots I got and so am considering trying it at night sometime. Can you get up there at night?

it was just the 18-70mm sony kit lens, replaced it with a brand new one for about £50, so not too bad really, and yeah you can get up the monument 24 hours a day, just be careful of gusting winds and cowpats.

got both mine off amazon for a decent price tripod and clicker

Only used them a couple of times so far but seem to do the job for me.

the hama tripods from amazon are ok, especially for the price and i use mine quite often, but since it blew over quite easy on penshaw monument i'm a bit paranoid about it these days, think i'll go for a redsnapper one as soon as i can afford it.

These are top drawer, very good value for what you get but not super cheap.

hells bells your not kidding - but then again i guess if your putting a few quids worth of kit on the top you want to make sure it's safe and secure.

I have this one. I got it for about £65 three years ago.

Not the lightest to carry but sturdy.

Tip: Hang your camera bag from the hook on the bottom of your tripod to help weight it down.
