    Default melting ice caps

reet, debate going on and im sure the SMB mob will know the craic.

    we have two sides

in the red corner, those saying its simple. the ice melts, making more water, so the sea levels rise

in the blue corner, those saying its bollox. the ice melts, so the ice caps become smaller, and thus less water is displaced, meaning the amount of water added by melting ice is cancelled out(ish).

Depends on which ice cap. The north pole is mainly sea ice so if it melted entirely, the sea levels wouldn't rise much as the water is displaced by ice.

However, if the south pole ice caps melted, they are mainly on land and there would be a lot more water and therefore a much bigger effect on sea level. However, the average temperature of the Antarctic is about -40 so not so much to worry about!
