I emailed them about why it was in Scotland and got the below response..

Every year one or two events are moved in order to make sure that fans across the country get to see a Masters event at least every other year. At present we run 6 regional events as part of our UK Masters Cup. Therefore, we sometimes have to make a decision to include a venue at the expense of another. This year, we have moved the Northern Masters to Scotland which means we won’t be in Newcastle. As you may have seen last year, there was no event in Scotland so Rangers & Celtic came to play at the Metro Radio Arena.
We do understand that this does leave some fans disappointed but our hands are somewhat tied by the restriction on the number of events Sky will broadcast. If we could run 8 regional events, we would do
