    Default SMBcc - 2011 season.

    Hello lads,

    Just a quick update.

If all goes well, the SMB will be in 2 leagues next season - the one we were in last season and one that I am in the process of sorting out. Based on the 8 other teams in these leagues (5 in one, 3 in another) and based on playing each team twice then we are already looking at a bare minimum of 16 games.

Thursdays are booked for us through the council for Houghton at the moment, and it uses the same criteria as last season - an expensive match rate unless we use 16 dates then we get the season rate.

So far, hopefully, we have at least 8 games which leaves scope for 8 home friendlies at home. In order to keep things "fresh", I am hoping to arrange some games against teams that we didn't play as much last season. Which leads me likely to my next point.

Quite often on threads like these, people say "such and such have a pub team who will play us" but unless I get some details then I cannot book these games in. So, if you know of a team then pass the details onto me!

Finally, we need to get an AGM sorted. Ideas for a date folks?

    Andy.

we already had the AGM at the end of last season.

I'm sure I can get a few teams together to play against the SMB too i.e Unkowns, Houghton 2nds, Houghton select 11

Also worth asking Les about getting together a over 40's team with us giving him a date to work towards this time

Fairs enough, assumed there would be a start of season one. Never mind.

I like the idea of playing the Over 40's. But what I don't want, and this is just my opinion, is 4 games against KJ Old Boys and 3 against the Unkowns again this season. As I said, a lot of people claimed to know a team that would play us without passing on the details.

I should be able to get a friendly at Gateshead Fell again as I did last year. Maybe Whickham too for their social team if we could get 11 there on a midweek.

Good work btw Andy, it's appreciated!

Andy - good work, couple of thoughts/ things to add.

Have you asked Barclays to join your proposed league as they have an active team I'm told (AC Arundaz the man to talk to)? Also, do you reckon we could combine the cups for the current midweek league we're in and the new un we're on about forming? Would give a bit more variety to everyone. I'm happy to represent us at the meeting for the existing midweek league at Felling btw as Craig is working nights (can you let me know when it is please mate as you'll be getting the email off them I'm guessing?)

Re other friendlies, I've got a contact at Hebburn who reckons they'd be up for a game with SMB once we know dates.

the problem with Barclays is they don't have a ground to play at that is why andy can only ask certain teams to be in the league.
