    Default sydney to cairns

I know its not west but i'm flying to sydney in april and plan to head up to the reef, looking at hiring one of these spaceships or a camper van.
Is this wise or would it more practical to hire a car and stay in motels?
insurance on these campers seems very high.
bear in mind im nee spring chicken (vividly remember the 73
    final]
    and im travelling alone.
also will be in sydney over easter so anywhere to watch the spurs and everton games?
    thanks in advance

Get one of those spaceships mate, they are great! I did the East coast before and done it both ways. Getting a car you have to pay the fuel but also stupid expensive prices for shit hotels and motels up to $150 per night. In your little camper machine you get to see the nice places and most campsites are right on the sea. Buy a copy of CAMPS 6 from a bookshop which tells you where all the campsites are..normally between $20-30 pn and these spaceship things aren't much worse on fuel than an average car. Be sure to visit Mooloolaba, Yepoon and Bunderberg on the way from Brisbane to Cairns!

There's a few pubs that will have the games on in Sydney, plus the clock should have changed by then so they'll be on at a bit of a better time! maybe midnight instead of 2am!

Cheers bar on George street usually has all the footy on, and the casino is 24 hours with a big sports bar so that might be the best bet for the everton game (bank holiday monday so tuesday over here)!
