Looks like a trip to the docs is order, I just can't be chewed to hear ''rest for 6 weeks...''!

A good thing for anyone with knee problems is to build up the quad muscles which help to stabilise the knee joint, exercise bikes being the obvious way.
The hospital will make up some inserts (free of charge) after having seen the doctor and waited for your appointment. Otherwise like someone else said you could see a physio, and get some inserts more quickly.
Keeping one's weight down can help in a big way, don't know if your slightly overweight or thin but it can have a big impact on your joints especially if you've been a runner for some time.
I wish that I only had to wait six weeks before being able to get out again running, I have had a full knee replacement last xmas, the cartilage was totally shot after years of abuse, maybe in another couple of months the new joint will feel sturdy enough to try some gentle jogging. But this would be frowned upon by the medics of course.
I do a lot of walking the dog now and the strength is back but running just yet is a no no.
