If you have photoshop the way to do it would be to
1. open the image
2. add a gradient map (black to white) adjustment layer - this converts it to black and white (if it looks inverted reverse the gradient)
3. use the brush tool, with white as the foreground colour and paint over the areas you wish to restore colour to.

Cheers, was hoping to stay away from photoshop for a while to be honest, still messing about with this lightroom craic.
Easy to do in Picnic - just set the image to black and white, then paint the colour bits back in. It can look great, but can often look a bit naff too.
