No interest in Sunderland flop Riveros

Cristian Riveros
Published on Saturday 30 April 2011 08:57
SUNDERLAND are no nearer to offloading Cristian Riveros, despite interest from Brazilian giants Corinthians.
The Echo revealed back in February how Corinthians had made an enquiry for the Paraguayan at the start of the Brazilian transfer window.
But the Black Cats have heard nothing more from South America and must continue their attempts to offload Riveros.
The 28-year-old has flopped since arriving on a free transfer from Mexican outfit Cruz Azul last summer, despite impressing for his country at the World Cup.
In his 12 appearances for the Black Cats, Riveros has been neat and tidy, yet has contributed little of note.
Even during the depths of Sunderland’s injury crisis, boss Steve Bruce has been reluctant to use the midfielder, who has been an unused substitute for the last two games.
Riveros has not featured since January and expects himself to be on his way out of the Stadium of Light in the summer.
Sunderland will hope to earn a seven-figure fee for Riveros, which would recoup much of the wages spent on the South American, who signed a lucrative three-year deal.
Full story in tonight’s Sunderland Echo.

I'm assuming from now on if Short sees any transfer fees heading off in a South American direction he'll be vetoing them!

Re: No interest in Sunderland flop Riveros
Feel sorry for him. Colback has basically done as much as Riveros, and everyone, myself included, has said he's looked canny.
But When Riveros put in those perfromances earlier it was all "He's too slow, too small, dosen't get the game here" etc.

Aye its strange like, i was excited to see him after he impressed in a team that made the quarters ffs. But he really must not be cutting it in training if he doesnt even make the bench.
