Coming to the end of me phone contract
Just needing a bit advice as this is the first time I've ever had a phone contract and its up at the end of July. Got an iphone 4 (yes, I know) and I'm currently paying about £50 a month for unlimited texts, 600 minutes of calls (which is easily enough) and unlimited internet usage, and it also includes orange care for £12 a month (so i can get the thing fixed if it breaks, which I always think is likely to happen!)
Dont fancy just ending me contract as the internet usage would cost loads on pay as you go but I equally dont fancy upgrading and continuing to shell out £50 a month. The phone is fine for what I need it for but obviously is now quite old in phone terms. If I contact them will I be able to negotiate a new, substantially cheaper, contract? If so, how much should I be looking at spending for a one year contract (current one is 2 years which was the minimum they'd offer as the phone was just out when i got it) with the same terms? Obviously being a 2 year old phone I'm best to keep the care thing as its likely to start breaking, but even including that I'm guessing I should be paying much less than £50 a month for it now since theres a 4s out and a 5 on its way (apparently due before my current contract runs out). Anyone experienced in negotiating these things, or will I just be faced with upgrade the phone or go pay as you go?

Aye, my old phone broke literally 2 days after the iphone 4 came out so when I went to get one they were taking the piss but I needed a phone for work (and for browsing the internet when traveling to the match) so I had to go for it. Now I should be able to avoid having the piss ripped quite so much so I need to work out what I can realistically be asking for! I would hope about £35 including the orange care, but that might be being overly optimistic.

Thing is I quite like the iphone 4, just because I'm used to it like, but aye if I cant negotiate a much cheaper price for what is now an out of date 2 year old phone I might need to look into getting something like a galaxy (which looks fairly similar to the iphone having just googled it like so should still be fine for web browsing). I should probably phone them around May/ June and see what the script is like

Can you not get a sim only deal from somewhere, and get the phone unlocked?

Not sure tbh mate, I knaa fuck all about these things! I looked at that galaxy phone and the cheapest deal on orange is £31 a month, no doubt with £12 on top again for the care package so that would hardly save me anything. I looked at that giffgaff site thing like and that seems canny- £15 a month for unlimited internet, texts and 250 free minutes is good. So I take it I couldnt just get that and stick it straight in me phone after me contracts up? Would I need to unlock the phone? Not sure how to do that like! Mobile phones are the one thing I am completely out of touch with- had one for years but this is the first time I've ever had a contract

Just port your existing number across when your contract is up.

hmm, might need a quick google to see how the fuck to do that then! But aye, if its £15 a month then that'd be class, I'd need some sort of care plan but hopefully it'd still be £25 a month, saving me a nice £25 a month
I just need to get up to date on how to do it!
