Default Couple bits of West Brom advice needed

    please lads.

Never been to the hawthorns before- my train is due in just after 12, is it worth going there for a drink or will it be packed (I can just break up my journey and have a few in Birmingham if that'll be easier), not sure what pubs around the ground would serve SAFC fans and not sure if they serve drink at the ground

Also, I'm going back to Glasgow after the match so I need to get the 17:51 from The Hawthorns station or I wont get home- I take it thats quite gettable or will the station be packed? I have to change trains at Smethwick anyway and get the train to Wolverhampton (changing again to get to Preston and again to get to Glasgow), am I better off just going straight to the smethwick station (is it easily walkable from the ground), as the Wolverhampton train doesnt leave there until 18:08 and I'm guessing that train wont be too packed?

Cheers to anyone who can help!

Best off drinking round New Street station, quite a few decent boozers around there.

All i remember about when I went is there is no pubs round the ground that let you in. Best off drinking in the centre before hand

You'll pass loads of decent pubs between New Street and Snow Hill and that's better than trying to get a drink nearer the ground. Metro then takes 10 minutes from Snow Hill to Hawthorns. Both Metro and Train stations at Hawthorns will be rammed after the match. Smethwick station is a good 15 minute walk but at least it's a straight road (dual carriageway)

Cheers all- sounds like the plan is a drink around Birmingham then. Edit, I'm a knacker, just checked and me train doesnt go to Birmingham- its Wolverhampton that it goes to but that'll be the same thing I suppose, few pints there then down to Smethwick and off to the ground. My mates meeting me at the stadium but is traveling with the chester-le-street branch so god knows when he'll get there.

After the match it sounds like a leisurely walk to smethwick- google maps suggests 25 minutes but even if its twice that with the crowd that'll still get me there well in time for me 18:08 train.

    Gerrin, thanks lads.

There's quite a few decent boozers in Wolves as well, close to the station in the town and the Metro is a 20 minute ride to Hawthorns. Or you might wat to jump off the Metro at Bilston for a couple. Doesn't look too welcoming but not that bad.

My train goes to Smethwick Rolfe station which is only another 10 or 15 mins walk than Hawthorns so if it's that station you may as well just walk.

Get yourself down to the Vine before the game - you'll be in there by 1pm, loads of time for beers.

My trains going to Smethwick Galton Bdg LL apparently- catchy name that like! Never heard of Smethwick, mental that its got two stations! I'm meant to be at Smethwick for 12:04 so could make the vine like, tempting but if I found for some reason I couldnt get in it'd be a bit gutting, might be safer drinking in wolves
