    Default Die Wunderkinder

Tonight, Germany lost 4-1 to Iceland in the Under 21 qualifiers.

Why don't we have a youth development system like their's?

A few of their youngsters played in the proper German team (which was still a German B-team) tonight...

    Marko Marin - 21
    Jerome Boateng - 21
Christian Trasch - 22 (but will have been eligible IIRC)
    Toni Kroos - 20

Good point. But it's still hardly a production line, is it?

It's a better and more effective production line than ours

We do and now our national team is as good as Icelands.

Well there's a few just a little bit older also, and those who weren't included in either squad...

    Neuer - 24
    Beck - 23
    Tasci - 23
    Gentner - 24
    Hunt - 23
    Jansen - 24
    Aogo - 23
    Badstuber - 21
    Khedira - 23
    Ozil - 21
    Muller - 20

Certainly a lot of promising youth there, which will see them do well for a few tournaments.

And they care more about developing players for the team that matters than winning U21 games.

I've learnt something here. It seems likely that the Bosch take an altogether different attitude towards the junior competitions.
