Default I'm not having much luck with takeaways lately!

Following my disappointing experience at the hands of China Cook a fortnight or so back, last night a further debacle took place!

This time it was Indian. We normally use Fulwell Tandoori and I cannot fault their stuff, however I believe they don't deliver and we'd both had a couple of drinks so that was a no-no.

We have eaten at the Eastern Touch in Boldon a few times, but not recently, and I recommended them on here to someone a while back. I won't be recommending them again after last night.

I ordered tikka chicken garlic chilli curry with extra garlic, with keema pilau rice and a keema naan. Our lass ordered chicken tikka masala with keema pilau rice and a peshwari naan, and a pot of mint raita.

I thought £25 sheets including delivery of £1.20 was a bit steep but was happy to pay given the anticipated high quality of the food.

Delivery came and the driver got paid and went. We opened the cartons to have a gander at the food.

Our lass's carton felt rather light: on opening it we found six little pieces of tikka chicken sitting forlornly in three quarters of an inch of thin sauce. That is to say the carton was less than one third full. That worked out at at £1 per little piece of chicken.

My "garlic chilli" curry had a similar amount of chicken tikka, and a reasonable amount of sauce. This is where the trades description act comes in. There was no fresh green chillies or crunchy red chillies to be found, and only three or four small slivers of garlic, despite my request for extra garlic.

Both naans were almost inedible due to their being burnt to charcoal completely on the bottom, mine had one small piece of keema lamb in it, hers had hardly any raisins or currants.

Her mint raita which should have been fairly thick, tresh and tangy was just runny watered-down yogurt with sugar and some mint sauce in it. (£1.40)

The keema pilau rice was, to be fair, nice.

Last night I could not be bothered to make a fuss and we were both starving, having been looking forward to this food for the hour it took them to deliver it, so we ate what we could of it (minus the leather-like naans) and had a bit fume.

Obviously we won't be using The Eastern Touch again but I would be interested to know people's views on how to react to that kind of disappointment. Do you

    1. Ring the takeaway and demand that they send their driver to refund you and remove the food.

    2. Eat the food and then go to the restaurant the next night when diners are in and threaten to make a scene unless they at leat part-refund your money.

    3. Maintain a dignified silence and just never use them again.

    4. Visit the restaurant after they have closed and set fire to it.

    5. Post a long and pompous entry on a message board to vent your spleen and make yourself feel that you have taught the offenders a lesson.

canny rant that marra. out of the options offered number 1 is probably worth a shot. to be honest if you are looking to get one over on them for ripping you off having a rant on a busy message board is probably more effective than anything else.
