Re: Android ICS / Samsung Nexus Prime announcement
Is there only me that doesn't see anything special there? There's nothing that I would see the average user making any use of?
Especially the facial unlock, did you see how long it took to recognise her face and unlock, in that time I could of entered in my password four times over.
The panoramic camera, a cool thing to have, but how often would it get used? Same with the app that stretches your face etc, it's fun, but if it's like the app on my iPhone, I've only used it twice.
The interface look slick though.

I don't bother with lock codes anyway, don't see the point.

My eyes see "average user" in your Apple-related posts, but my brain can only make sense of it as "simpleton".
Actual average users are buying current Androids at twice the rate of iPhones, so it seems they can cope with it fine, and like what they're getting. And ICS looks more user friendly, not less.
I particularly like the data monitoring/limiting, but I agree the face recognition is overkill, and almost as pointless (after the initial "oooo") as that Siri thing.

I would if it could be rigged to explode when the wrong one was entered. Mind I'd have set a few pubs on fire by now.

Re: Android ICS / Samsung Nexus Prime announcement
The UI, as in all Android products, looks cluttered.

i.e. getting them for free.
"Sir, would you like the free phone or the one that costs a couple of hundred quid?"
"ER, I'll have the free one please!"

The other eye catching thing is NFC. That's going to be moderately handy now for quickly passing contacts/links/files between devices, and really handy later for electronic payment, authority to travel and security applications, when they take off. That makes Android and Symbian the frontrunners now, as the only two platforms that support it.

Samsung alone have sold 30 million of the Galaxy S series, and they've been far from free. There are certainly cheap Androids about (one of its strengths) but I'd imagine the majority of sales have been mid to top range models that cost.
