Depression
Not sure if this is the best time to start a thread like this but it's something that needs to be asked. In the last two years I've had 3 mates 'give up the fight' against this (must be my shite patter), and in each case i never knew they were suffering from it.
What i want/need to know is, if i did know what could i do to help them, and what signs should i look out for to realise my mates may have depression?
Each time I've been left wondering..'If only I'd known..' but then start thinking 'even if I'd known, what could i do..?'
I'm sure there are websites out there explaining it but there's nothing better than advice from someone with personal experience
Mods, if you think this thread is 'too soon' please delete it, I'll understand

Re: Depression
Some people hide it very well.
From the little I know about it, I'd say there's a few signs that people probably don't often associate with depression, but can be signs that someone is suffering from it.
Stuff like, them saying they're bored all the time. Or them feeling the need to be with people all the time - not being able to stand their own company.
Best advice I'd say is to try to get them to talk about it with you or someone else. Think talking is the only real thing that helps tbh.

Re: Depression
i get it, i use a technique i discovered in prison when i was younger, a kind of transcendental meditation if you will, i'll take myself off somewhere the trick is to imagine the minutest detail, like in golf you dont aim for a certain tree in the distance you aim for a leaf on a branch, really focus and imagine every tiny detail
works for me

Re: Depression
My friends Dad has it really bad atm, on 40mg of prozac i think. Hasn't left the house since Xmas, if he goes outside he starts shaking and sweating. Just sits and stares into nothing half the day... First time he's been off work in 8 years too. Hard seeing what it's doing to him...

Very little as far as I am aware. They need to go to the doctor/social services and get proper professional help.
