Thoughts on last night
Canny little stadium, but didn't sell booze or burgers - massive let down.
Anyway here's my breakdown of how each player performed:
Westwood - good debut. Some good saves and was unlucky with their goal, it was a quality free kick.
Bardsley - did ok at right back. Didn't get too involved in play, but was solid when he needed to be.
Brown - quality. Just sheer quality. Won every header and reads the game brilliantly.
Ferdinand - excellent game. Looked rock solid at the back. I love the way he nips in front of people when they're just about to receive the ball.
Richardson - no doubt about it, his best position is left back. Looked solid in defence and was a real attacking threat.
Larsson - put some quality crosses into the box and worked hard for the team. His corners are class as well.
Vaughan - best player on the pitch for me. He kept things simple and kept the game ticking over.
Cattermole - played very well, but should keep things simple sometimes. He goes for the 'Hollywood' ball when a 5 yard ball would be better.
Malbranque - excellent first half, but wasn't the same second half.
Gyan - some nice turns, flicks and running, but you could tell he isn't quite match fit.
Sessegnon - quality. The lad is mint. He will be our player of the season next year if he stays clear of injury.
Elmo - lovely cross for Wickhams goal. I think he's been practicing over the summer 'cos his crosses were dangerous every time yesterday.
Gardner - wasn't too involved in player, but never lost the ball when he had it.
Wickham - looked sharp, and got a goal. Won some headers, chased the ball down and put himself about. He needs time but he'll be a quality player for us.
Ji Dong-Won - excellent first touch and full of running. Looks like a good prospect if he's given time. Made some excellent attacking runs as well.
Laing - looked assured in defence. Didn't have much to do, but what he did do, he did it well.
Colback - played left back and he played well. Didn't have much to do though.
All in all a good game and a good day out. We played some excellent passing football and not too many long balls. The lads looked very sharp.

Interesting report - doesn't sound like a 2-1 score against a team like Killie though............

Bruce won't be though. He'll be looking at the problems which is the correct thing to do. It's what these games are for.

They defended well. It was clear that we're a little bit away from match sharp, but we'll get there. The most positive thing from last night was the lack of long balls.

This is the big question mark with Steed for next season. He looks awesome for one half but then fades badly in the second. Don't know if it's something he can shake off in pre-season or it's just a sign of where his career is at the moment.

Of course. It wasn't perfect, but Kilmarnock didn't get a sniff at goal, other than the excellent freekick.

Maybe he should pack the tabs in!
