    Default West Brom awayday

Went to WBA on Sat. Was my first away game in a while. We went down in the car, stopping at Lichfield on the way. By 1pm there were already some very drunk people around. We stayed about an hour, had a couple of pints, then set off for the ground. Getting stuck in traffic, we only got parked up at 2:45, with a mile to walk. Ran down past the away buses, then up the hill at the back of the away end to try to catch the kick-off, only for one of our party to get lifted from the queue at the turnstile (arrested for attempting to enter a sporting venue while intoxicated - copper said he looked 'unsteady on his feet', maybe something to do with having just run half a mile to get there eh?). It was 7:45pm before he got let out of Smethwick nick and we picked him up. He wasn't fined or anything, just got a caution, basically because he wasn't drunk.

Not a very good day really.

Nope, I got in. Being twice his age, I was 100 yards behind them, and by the time I caught up he'd been pinched.

West Midlands Constabulary obviously needed one more to make up the numbers. It could have been any one of us really. First game of the season and undoubtedly trying to stamp their authority on it. No doubt some away fans get treat the same way at the SOL. Pathetic for sure. Still, the Red Cow in Smethwick was interesting.
