The Mags are
simply just better prepared for the derby games, physically and mentally. Yet again, we found ourselves get sucked into playing their game. They bossed us in the air with strength but yet when they went forward, they went down like sacks of shit. They're a good set-piece side (like Stoke ) and they play for free kicks and corners so Barton can deliver a ball to the back post and it can be headed back across the box by Shola ready for a goal mouth scramble. Even today, I noticed when they were getting throw-ins, (was it R. Taylor taking them?) They were getting plenty of length on them.
First half we battered them on the ground and should have been a goal up, typical Sunderland, never take our chances. We looked well up for it first half and were definitely the better side (minus Seb's handball and Shola's header )
Second half though, we fell for their tricks and started playing their game. I sensed when they came out a few minutes after us for the 2nd half that Pardew had told them something, reminding them of what they did at the SoL last year. And that's literally what it was, it seemed the 2nd half was just a repeat of last January. That's our problem, surely Brucey should have known that Newcastle were going to come out stronger in the 2nd half. That's what pisses me off, it's our players total lack of logic. Did they just expect Newcastle to come out the same as they did in the 1st half? We can never seem to adapt to a change of opposition tactics during the game. No matter how well you're playing, I don't think it's ever acceptable for a manager to say "just keep doing what you're doing" because the opposition will obviously change what they're doing so what you're doing doesn't apply anymore.
The Mag's know this better than us and always seem to use it to their advantage and tbf to them, it's worked. I would congratulate them for it but I just hate the bastards so much!!!

Offside anyway, wasn't it?
Agree with what you're saying though, especially about Bruce. He seemed to have no idea what to do after we'd wasted those chances in the first half.

Re: The Mags are
In a nutshell then. Pardew is capable of changing a game and Bruce isn't

Ah was it? Haven't seen it since. I sit in the South East corner so didn't have the best view. Tbh, I had my head in my hands as the ball was played in just waiting for them to cheer.

I think it was yeah. I sit near the front of the north east corner and the linesman's flag seemed to go up as soon as it hit Ameobi's head.

That's the most intelligent post I've seen on here today, it's what happened last season and it's what happened today. I don't think Bruce has a clue how to counteract it and I just pray we don't get turned over through there again.

Re: The Mags are
barton continually battered webb. pardew was continually in the ear of the 4th official. they fell down held onto ankles and got up. continually broke up play by playacting and going down at the slightest touch. They were good at that thats why they got away with it.
how r taylor was not sent of for the elbow amazed me and a few others who had a decent view. Mind you we were further back than the linesman who was only 3 or 4 feet away.
Mignolet was totally at fault for the goal, he showed far too much back post. They scored we didnt and we never showed any spirit in the 2nd half . elmo bottled it and should have been taken off after 20 mins.
we lost, take it on the chin and hope we can get monday over with
