    Default Catering/Fan Experience at SAFC...

Just reading an article now about what City are introducing for next season. Joe Mercer Way will become 'City Square'... An entertainemt area for upto 5000 fans outside the ground with retail kiosks, food and beer, all under tensile canopies. A bit like the 'FanFests' and like they have at most sporting arenas around the world.

Good idea I think, and something SAFC should consider what with us having a modern and flexible stadium (flexible meaning building opportunities).

According to the article, these structures are fairly cheap, and the fella can't understand why teams here don't do it. Got to be more appealing than being crammed on the concourse pre-match as a way of bringing cash into the club.

    good idea.

i went to watch Dortmund v Leverkusen last season and spent a good few hours in a fanfest type area.

beer and sausages were great. no trouble either with away fans.

sounds ok in theory until carlsberg or some shite buys the sole rights and there's just millions of carlsberg pumps to go with offal burgers, as per large venues across britain.

Pretty much, but endorsed and operated by the club, meaning money goes to them. Yeah it will be a bit 'family-ish' I'd imagine, but no more so than the concourses, just more comfortable.

Since when? There's hardly anyone there until about 20 minutes before kick off.

It doesn't go into specifics in the article, but I imagine it's going to be akin to the inside of the stadium.

Apparently at City's, the canopies will be illuminated sky blue for night games. Should look decent.

True, in the 30 mins or so before kick off it gets busy, and any time before that it's just bloody dull and you feel a bit stuck inside.

the idea is ok.... but not sure how good it would be due to the English weather... cold, rain, wind and on occasions snow.
not really appealing standing outside with a pint when its windy or raining.
