Only 4 English players in the full squad.

Arsenal's system works for them. They don't get the guaranteed choice of the best young English players but are excellent at picking out those from abroad.

Personally I think the more English players we have in leagues abroad that have a winter break, a less *coughs* physical approach and more sensible fixture list with less congestion the better.

Fewer injuries, less money, less constant criticism.

Who knows? Then we might even manage to have a team with an ounce of running left in them by competition time.

English football has always had loads of foreigners who werent elgible for the England national team, only they used to be Scots, Irish and Welsh. Now they are French, Argentine and Cameroonian.

Nothing has changed in reality and the pool of English players has always been smaller than we thought.

Its a consistent theme that has been replicated with our national side which has always been fairly mediocre (despite being hyped up as otherwise) other than a golden period in between 1966 and 1970.

Its like that for most of the bigger sides take barca out and most top sides have alot of imports in there squads. Not to mention most english players the better ones get nicked anyway by the big clubs so the only way for mos tof us to compete is to find gems abroad. Ive said it time and time again if there good enough it doesnt matter if there english or french or whatever they will get games, we just havent produced as many good players as the likes of spain has.

I can remeber an article on here somewhere where it was stated we have less qualified coaches than Italy France Germany and Spain. With Spain having the most.

Is it about numbers or good ones, well we dont have many of either anyway.

We need more coaches and we need them to go abroad to coach. Steve McClaren is doing a good job, Roy Hodgson has done the business abroad and they are now both in good jobs with teams that have a history of beign at the top

Obviously Reid, Adams and Robson are an exception this but still....
