Was at that game. Aside from the brilliance of our play, the thing I remember most is the way the home fans chanted "We love you City" almost all game in spite of the battering they witnessed.

A lad was stabbed in front of us after that game. We managed to get back to the car after posing as locals at a bus stand surrounded by marauding city head cases. We drove out of Manchester and pulled up at a big posh pub. We had no sooner sat down and 3 bus loads of them piled in as this was where the local branch ran from. They were pissed off so we did too.

I was there with MWN's brother, Kenny. He was the one who got stabbed. FUCKING HELL ON THERE WAS! I clambered into the back of a cop car and just screamed get me the fuck out of here. We were getting hammered on every street corner and back alley's on the way out of Maine Road. Hated the cnuts ever since. Most of the buses left half empty as the cops simply told the drivers to get away, sharpish.

Me and me Mam and Dad stayed in Chester and got the train through and we were sat behind the Sunderland dugout. Pop Robson was substitute. He was told to get on by Knighton, said he needed a piss, "Have it on the F&CKING pitch" When he came off he'd had that piss. My Dad asked him in 85 in Hexam, the day we played, Carlisle in the October, and he'd just been sacked. Yes he did.

So did I mind, Tom Hark in the station too and tomorrow's Daily Mirror.

    Giddin

Fuckin Dichio 19 years later could have been a hero.

Then Keegan spoilt it the next week.

Being escorted through the streets with City on l;iterally every corner, we were in the car but parked at the pub where they put the away busses. On the way out the busses getting bricked on the Motorway!

    Aye and Tom Hark!

Was that Shaun Elliot who won the penalty ?

If so you can tell he was a defender, looked like he had absolutely no idea what to do with the ball !

great hat trick by hawley. top of the 1st division (premier of its day, for the young uns) after that game

played southampton on the saturday, lost 2-1, big sam alladyce scored at the fulwell end.

last time we had a 40000 plus crowd at roker park.

great days, of course by the end we had to get something at liverpool to stay up and stan cummins scored the winner. i was there for both of these games.

by the way, it has been confirmed that it was hansen who hit the bar, during the anfield game, though i was convinced it was souness from 30 yards
