Default warne's 10 point plan for aussie cricket

    1. International players must play more domestic . If you want to perform at the top then the foundations must be strong.

    2. No more resting players. They should want to play every game, creating a toughness of mind and body.

    3. No more seven one-dayers against the same team. One-dayers keep everything ticking over financially, but maybe an ODI at each major venue - five in total - and three Twenty20s would better serve our side.

    4. Talk more cricket after a day's play, don't rush off. Get to know your teammates better.

    5. Fewer support staff. Get the coach or manager to organise specific people to come in when required, which leads to more thinking for yourself and not relying too much on others.

    6. Bowlers to stop thinking about going for runs and start thinking wickets. Attack the stumps, bowl fuller and risk being driven.

    7. Batsmen to work against bowlers not bowling machines. We need proper, hard net sessions with a purpose. Every session must be about learning and improving.

    8. Create an environment that is competitive and team-orientated not individual.

    9. It''s not a job, it''s fun and enjoyable to be playing cricket and representing Australia. When selecting players, look for spirit and a sense of fun.

    10. Cricket basics. As I said earlier, we need to do them better than anyone else in the world.

    how times have changed

    1. Appeal for anything that goes remotely near the pads
    2. Get the quick at the other end to deface the wicket to give you some rough to bowl into
    3. Take banned substances
    4. Accept money from bookies
    5. Shag hooers
    etc

    12. Don't run away from your stumps unless the other guy is running towards your stumps

    13. Score more runs and take more wickets.

load of shite if you ask me. if the talent is there you cant force it. people were saying this 5 years ago when the golden era players were all approaching there mid thirties and still they persisted with the same players and allowed them to dictate when the time was right to retire. should have been introducing youth back in 2005 not now.

Similar to the Liverpool team of the mid-late 80s.

It was only the last test when I think Atherton put that point to him and he was saying that you can't tell players like Him/Mcgrath/Hayden/Langer etc when they have to retire. As if they had the right to call the shots. To be fair I think a few of them would have retired a bit earlier if we hadn't beat them in 05.

It was interesting last night when Atherton was going through the 10 points with him during commentary. I thought at the time they were a load of shite and feel the same now. Pick your mates, have a drink etc. It doesn't work nowadays. Try going on the piss during test matches now like they used to and see where that gets you.

Exactly. First you need talent and the right systems to bring it through from roots to national team. Then you need the right attitude, without which talent is wasted (step forward KP). Then you need discipline, organisation, focus and plain hard work, to bring it all together.

If you get those things right you'll have a winning team and winning team spirit, no booze bonding or mateship needed. And you'll thump the Aussies in their own back yard.
