    Default Bruce on Gordon

"He's still 3-4 weeks away from full fitness. I need to see him fully fit and playing before entering into contract negotiations."

I'm completely stumped with how SAFC approach the Craig Gordon situation. We all know how talented the lad is and one thing that has to be taken into consideration is that most keepers can play into their forties - so any injury issues he is having now, in his twenties, could have very little baring on whether he is capable of playing at the top level, injury free.

Would we be foolish to let him go for nowt?

P.S. canny blog on the CG situation from a few days ago: http://www.seventy3magazine.co.uk/bl...otten-Man.aspx

Would you pay someone £60k to sit on the physio table though.

I agree with Bruce on this.

we won't be offering him the same terms he gets now imo, and we wouldn't if he'd played every game either, like anton he will have to find a another club if he doesn't want a pay decrease.

Whilst I agree in principle with the financial side, there's one big difference between Craig and Anton. Anton was not the best player at the club in his position, Craig is...

He is 10 times better than Mignolet so I hope to God he gets a new deal.

He is a very talented footballer but during his time at Sunderland we have rarely got to see the best of him .
Its a bit tricky for Bruce imo we all know he is a fantastic player but Bruce has to work on a budget and Gordon has missed an awful lot of games over the past 3 seasons .
Bruce has to look and see is he getting value for money, or could his large wage packet go towards strengthening other areas of the pitch like tying down bendtner on a permanent deal .

The club and Bruce want him to stay but won't pay wages you're right, Bruce wanted to keep anton and him to sign a new contract but he wouldn't go for a big wage cut. So he was sold, it's a shame but the club are really cost cutting
