Yeah , I got done a few year back for not having one when I had a pub in Lancaster, just back dated the cost after an assessment, IIRC was about 1300 quid as went back a few years, brewery took care of it.

I've also heard of a mythical 'font police' that can randomly burst into your studio/workplace and check the legitimacy of your typefaces.
Good job they never visited my last workplace.

They tried with my place - I told them we had under 50 employees and they had no right to visit. That stopped the shop floor playing fucking Radio 1 all day though, thank Christ (when they moan I remind them they can have them back if they club together the £600 per year for the licence).

They rang back a week later saying that I had hold music on my phone system so had to have a licence I told them the CD was non-copyright (which it was; I specifically bought a non-copyright one for that very reason). They wouldn't accept this. Okay, I said, I'll knock something up in GarageBand - I'm the artist and I don't want any royalties. They finally admitted defeat

It amazes me sometimes - if you have a talk radio station on all day you still need a PRS licence for the jingles and any music in any adverts. Madness.

We had this a few years ago after PRS sued Kwik Fit. Company policy was to turn all radios off, but I know for a fact our head office used to have theirs on.

I wonder though what the commercial radio stations make of this? You need a licence if more than one person can hear it as this counts as public broadcasting.

It's unbelievable man, what a fucking farce. I had to stop listening to the radio in my last job due to them sending a letter out.
