Default No Claims bonus on car insurance

Is there any way I could find out if I have any?

I had insurance for around 8/9 years, and never made any claims, but haven't drove for a few years.

I'm looking at getting some insurance but I haven't got a clue who my last insurer was.

Is there any way of finding out?

Will I still have any no claims anyway?

You will have some still but you need to contact your last insurer to verify...

I know you said you can't remember - but best look thru old bank statements to find out who you were with...

    Good luck m8...

I think your no claims expire if you don't have insurance for 2 years. I could be wrong but sure this happened when I looked into getting a company car.

Tend to only count for 2 years unless you return to your previous company

No you are right. If you have not held insurance in the last 2 years you will not have any no claims.

Whoever Norwich Union became are normally really good at giving you the benefit of the doubt. What you will need to do is contact your old insurance company and ask them for a copy of your no claims status as it was at the end of your last policy.

Then like I said have a word with your old insurer, they might, if not get your no claims certificate as it was at the end and call Norwich Union

    Yes, with your old insurer

The Motor Insurance Bureau have a database of vehicles, owners and who they are insured by. I guess under the DPA they would be obliged to divulge and provide any information they hold about you. However it would probably be a writted request and you may have to pay a tenner. Could always contact them and find out like.

Can you Remember how you paid? Might be able to trace it back through your credit / current account?
