Default Info (albeit not exactly conclusive)

Just being honest but messaged everybody I know in the media as I was and am seriously perplexed by the last 48hrs events.

Reply I got from BBC online journalist was the following, please note he says this may just be media speculation adding 1 & 1 and getting C.

Bents agent has been pushing for a better deal since the end of last season. (no surprise there)

Bruce wants to improve squad but Short is not releasing more funds until the outcome of this season and therefore told Bruce to find loan deals instead.

Loan deals have been difficult as clubs want fees for the players instead of loans.

Bruce and Quinn have therefore realised they need to sell an asset to get the players in to strengthen. Assets being Bent, Henderson and Gordon.

Only new info (or guess) I got was Villa had declared interest in the summer and that on top of Bents agent pushing for more money meant the departure of Bent would both bring the most money and would be able to be done in days. On top of that Bruce sees Jordan as the future if this club and Gordon as the best keeper in the league.

I did say it wasnt great info but thought Inwiuld share yet another mish mash of speculation.

Sounds reasonable if true. He's an asset and we've got a good deal for him.

    Bruce's statement contradicts this.

I'm pretty sure if we had had this eventuality in mind we would have had a replacement lined up, especially with Welbeck and Campbell out. I'll take a hell of a lot of convincing that it's anything other than Bent being a greedy cunt.

Even though I don't believe a word of this, I'm happy we sold Bent rather than Henderson or Gordon. £24m ffs, owa the moon with that

Same here, I think Bruce would have held on with what we've got until the summer at least.

I think the speed of this from the point of view of the club took everyone by surprise including Quinn, Bruce etc. and the media.

The only people who would have known clearly were Bent, Bent's agent and Villa. Why would Bent have travelled to Birmingham for talks before a deal was accepted and why would terms be agreed inside an hour or so......because it had all be sorted days/weeks ago.

I think even the generally ITK journo's are clutching at straws with reasons why......its simple, head turned by money and agents.

Also, as it is pretty clear now we will be in the Premier League next year, why didn't Short just advance Bruce some of the TV money as it is guaranteed income?
