    Default Freeview Channels Going HD

Anyone know if the standard freeview channels on the Virgin box will also be upgraded or can you only watch the HD channels via a freeview HD box?

bbc, c4 and itv are all available to virgin media subscribers, although you will need a HD box to view them on.

to watch HD channels on freeview, you'll need a new HD freeview box or a tv with built in freeview HD.

Have the Virgin HD box already. Didnt think BBC or ITV were shown in HD...

The V+ thing is a godsend, I have to say, the pause and rewind thing on live telly is quality

The only HD channels on Virgin at the minute are:

    Channel 4
    Living
    ESPN
    FX
    MTVN
National Geographic (one of the best if you like the programming)
    BBC (doesnt cover all channels)

If you include all the other channels that you can get its a bit poor. Id up my package to include all the SKY bits and pieces if you got them in HD. I wont move to SKY due to the on demand stuff you can get on virgin and catchup etc

That's a generic BBC thing though not anything to do with Virgin. They have one HD channel and are fairly selective about its content.

Im not too fussed to be honest about BBC, a lot of their shows cant be broadcast in HD anyway (older shows). Another thing Ive noticed on a couple of HD channels when they have tried to show older programming is that the aspect ration of the picture goes back to a non- widescreen format

    you missed out

    eurosport
    itv
    discovery
    sci-fi
    e4

all included in the extra large package.

coming later during the summer, film4.

VM hope to have 20-30 hd channels by year end, for no extra cost. The only ones that will be missing are those such as Sky sports and Sky movies, plus maybe sky 1 etc.
