Default New financial fair play rules

So glad we're in the prem and have been for the last few years with short making sure our business is successful and we're no longer a regional club with the impending sponsorship deals with twulow and adidas (mooted like).
Plus the fact we have the stadium and the academy in place in puts us in a good place compared to most other clubs such as everton.
The likes of sheff wed, Leeds, boro, sheff united, Coventry, brum etc are in a bad place in terms of being left behind. It could so easily have been us.

We missed out in the wilderness in the 1960's onwards and I don't think our reputation as a top top club in the uk has ever recovered and it may never but had we stayed at the top challenging and maybe having the likes of Clough as manager we could have been up there with the likes of arsenal, Liverpool etc and their international reputations.

Hopefully due to short, Quinn and O'neill we won't miss out on being in the elite for the next 20-30 year. Optimistic

I think you misunderstand effect of FFPR

It means the existing teams in Europe are effectively ring fenced so that no one can spend to get into that club

It's not good news at all for SAFC. It means that there is a big dis-incentive for any board to invest in their playing squad which means that the same clubs will dominate the League and the gap between the top 6 in European competition and the rest will grow.

The FFPR were dreamt up by the existing elite clubs to prevent the Eastern European clubs from getting their revenues. The big development in European football has been the rise of the Russian and Ukrainian clubs whose owners are billionaires.

If Ellis-Short invested monies in SAFC in any meaningful way we would instantly find ourselves excluded from European competition.

If regulation is required it should be to ensure that clubs don't go into debt - that's a different matter entirely. How can the footballing authorities allow clubs like Rangers and Pompey to go under. No FFPR is all about protecting the elite, not about protecting the game

It's designed to keep the top clubs at the top. Only people it is good news for is the current big boys.

Then it's up to SAFC under a top Manager to break the big boy's with 'boring' tactics.

Every PL club will have their lawyers looking into legal loopholes as we speak.

It really pains me to say this, but the mags have shown that with good scouting, a good work ethic, a slice of luck here and there and a decent manager (even though the fella is a complete arse), you can still achieve something.

This has been easy to swallow this season only because of the shambolic start we made and MON turning it around.

I totally agree but to be fair to the OP relatively speaking we are in a good position as regards FFPR compared to some other clubs.
