Can of Worms Time - Need a portable computer!
Just about to sell my laptop for about £200, so got that and little bit more to put towards something that will live on the sofa.
The missus doesn't want a touch screen device, as she wants to browse the web and actually be able to type without it being a pain in the arse.
But I did like the idea of those transformer devices, although they're about £400, which is crackers.
Netbooks are in my mind - but it needs to have a very good battery life - needs to last the majority of a 10hr flight.
Don't mind if its something I can pick up 2nd hand off Ebay. Don't mind if I have to upgrade (can't say I fancy a 1Gb netbook, think I'd upgrade that quite quickly!)
Doesn't have to be Windows either, could possibly live with an "apps-driven" OS, like Android (not linux though, can't be arsed with that)
Anyone got any suggestions.

Great idea. Spend over £400 to save £200.
Mint!

I think the biggest struggle you will find is finding one that will last the majority of a 10 hour flight, I have come across this netbook which may be of interest depending on the price and your budget?

I bought my dad a Samsung netbook that had a 9hr battery, so I'm sure you can get them.
It could even be a normal one that you can buy a battery booster for, for when its needed.
I'm open to any and all suggestions (even iPad if you can dock them on a normal keyboard, and you can get one for under £250)

How about one of these?
Similar price but a lot more versatile
