GC is okay, only got it to York before but always got seat, loads of legroom, decent journey, may fill up with tossers at york. take plenty of cans for the trip, xpensive on board.

Would have to be a one man session , going down to essex for a couple of weeks. Just checked the GC website and its 27 quid for a one way ticket down there for the start of june as the end of june isn't out yet. Not bad

GC, better sea views, better carriages i.e. more room and you dont need to go through to Newcastle. Staff are canny so long a you have the right ticket.

East coast is a lot quicker but far more expensive

Grand Central has in my opinion, better service, better trains and cheaper price.

However.. It takes a lifetime to get anywhere. On the way back its fine from London to York... Then it seems to go about 10mph.

Just recently been on an east coast train and was pretty cheapish but service wasn't really up to much, how much longer you think it would take on grand central?
