Split Fest
Quote:
Dear Split Festival Fan,
Hi there and hope you are well and looking forward to our great event in
September. We thought you’d like to hear the latest exciting news about
developments for Split 2010, and we really love this one! On top of our
recent release about fun, family, friendly and fairly priced (See FAQs on
website for more details), we are pleased to let you all know that our
Sunday headliner has now been confirmed as local heroes The
Futureheads...so we now have the 2 biggest bands to come out of the North
East in the past 10 years headlining our event and hope you will all want
to be there to be a part of it!
|
So it's The Futureheads to play a full set, canny, although I did expect someone like the Maccabees.
Not complaining mind, will be a good weekend.

Maxïmo Park's debut album, A Certain Trigger, was released to widespread critical acclaim in 2005 selling 300,000 copies and earning them a Mercury Music Prize nomination

Assuming there's only one idiot per village, I hadn't realised we had so many villages in Britain.

Re: Split Fest
Looks like a decent festival for local bands and considering the price. Bit random how the "out of town" band so to speak who are near the top of the bill are the Paddingtons, bit of a strange choice. Don't get me wrong, there first album was top notch and saw them a few times live and they were great, they then seemed to go missing for a while but went to see them about 2 year back roundabout when their second album was finally coming out and they were absolutely dreadful ... that album was shite too, and they haven't really done much since then...

They're probably better now than they were when the 1st album was out and trying to fit into the Libertines/Strokes scene too much. I wasn't impressed with No Mundane Options on first listen but I love it now.
Its a shame that the organisers seem to have failed to get the festival off the ground mind. The Paddingtons are the biggest non-local band on the bill and i watched them at the Head of Steam in front of 100 people a few month ago.

Yet you still clicked on the bands name to read their profile, well done.

Rumours about bands who they were going to get, then at the last minute The Futureheads announced as the secret headliners even though they were already on the bill. It just sounds to me like they tried to get a biggish headline act but it didn't come off.
