Default Derby reaction OTT. Am I alone.

Im not daft enough to think its just another game but ffs the whole situation has gone overboard.

Had say WBA beat us 5-1 last week there would have been the usual inquest after yet another away defeat, dust ourselves down and try to beat Stoke.

Instead it seems that despite a good start against some quality sides our fans (in the main) want Bruces head on a plate. Bruce then agrees (wrongly imo). And our whole season can go off the rails if we failt to get 3 points off Stoke then head to Chelsea and Spurs.

    Everyone needs some perspective.

Some tosser was on Legends last night (I only listened while I was putting the car away ), telling the other 3 tossers that to SAFC the 2 derbys are everything, all other games are meaningless. Are we really that small minded? Why didint we opt to play in the Championship last year so we didnt miss our beloved derbys.

Let the twats have their day in the sun. (to be fair most mags have been level headed about it). Let Bruce continue his previously sterling work and see where it takes us. The skunks could still be in bother come May, the bookies believe that too and are rarely wrong. We`ll be in the other half of the table, providing the mags game can be wiped from the fans/players/managers system.

    FTM.

here here. still hurts like fuck though. not the end of the world, finishing higher than them would be better than beating them, kind of.

i think the way we were humiliated (the fans) by our own players is the most hardest thing to take. i can take getting beat

    Agreed

It fucking hurt but I've felt worse coming out of games, play off final, fa cup semi final, gameas after being relegated.

I just hope it is a massive wake up call, we didn't turn up simple as but it cannot just be put down to one bad day at the office.

No you are not alone ,i agree.Surely staying up another season and cracking on is the main aim, sacking Bruce would just set us back about 3 years in my eyes and who would want to replace him if we sacked him.Nobody anyone on here wants.Oneil has been mentioned but i think he has turned us down before. And lets not forget theres more than one derby in a season

    There's not enough of them.

Mind I disagree with the OP. If we had been 5-1 beaten by Chelsea ok, Villa concerend, Bolton alarmed but we were stuffed by a team that had just been promoted and had spent relatively little. Think thats the perspective we have to put on it. To add to that it is our nearest and dearest.

It's obviosuly the biggest 2 games of the season to both sets of fans and if you lose then fair enough shit happens but, haway, 5-fucking-1?! That can't be allowed to happen. I've gone from being ok with Bruce to being a bit anti-Bruce in one game. I do realise that is fickle but that's the way it is.

Id say it was akin to our 3-1 loss at burnley last season, against probably poorer opposition and the skunks got 2 more after we had a centre half sent off.

Obviously the vitriol can be partly expected but we went on and had a steady season with a side which wasnt Bruceys.

When I was on holiday during one night I got cramp in my right calf muscle. I leapt out of bed and fell to the floor. I felt like no-one had ever suffered pain like that before. I could not imagine that it would ever stop.

Looking back it seems like just a bad case of cramp. Nothing really that important. Possibly my reaction was OTT. However, I do appreciate that it really hurt me at the time.

One should of course have perspective. But it is hard to have perspective when you are very close to something.

Let us assume things go well. We beat the mags at the SoL in Jan and finish above them. Next season we do the double over them for the first time since the 60s. Last sunday will still be a painful memory. But probably it won't hurt that much.
