Our Squad: Onwards and Upwards!

With the window slammed shut, I guess it's as good a time as any to take a look at our squad after another eventful summer.

Everyone will have different views of course, but for me this is probably our strongest XI, followed by our current strongest back up team:

Bardsley Turner Da Silva Ferdinand

Zenden Riveros Meyler Reid

Campbell Wellbeck

The reserve team would probably give many of our first teams in times gone by a good game. In fact, I've got to say looking at that back up that we are in a brilliant position and we should be absolutely delighted with the way things are going, even in this difficult economic climate.

The first team is only bettered by the top 8, IMO.

In conclusion, the best squad I've ever seen at Sunderland AFC.

That looks a half decent squad now, especially when you look back 3/4 years ago.

Bigger profile players are now able to be attracted to the club, just hope we can get more away from home and we can push on again in january in terms of signings.

Looks good on paper, time will tell what it does on grass. But there is a lot more pace in the team and most are accomplished footballers as well. Only slight concern for me is that we still lack goals from midfield. Niall and Ellis Short have done their job, time for Steve Bruce and his staff to get the performances that the talent should produce.
