That's cos she doesn't want the kids eating any Northumbrian rip-off crap. You should have offered to make proper panaculty instead.

Two different things according to my Evertonian mate, who gets upset if people claim (lob)scouse and Irish stew are the same. Scouse is supposedly thicker and closer to Scottish stovies than Irish stew. It is definately from a Scandinavian origin not Irish.
