    Default Treadmills for the home

    I'm thinking of getting a Reebok I-run.

Do any of the wise and svelte SMB have treadmills?

No, but then I'm not agoraphobic.

You're really going to blow £600 on a treadmill? yeah they're quite good for intervals and stuff but the weather is never that bad!

I would love to run free but it is harder, more prone to injuries, harder on the joints and a different discipline altogether.

With a treadmill you hop on for an hour and job done.

Get a cross trainer, you'll work out the upper part of body too and it'll not run up the leccy bill.

Motivation isn't the problem at all.

I love training: used to train for rugby tue & thurs with a match on Sunday, cycling 25 miles a day and having a personal trainer once a week at 6am before ditching the unreliable stroker and taking up stronglifts.

Then I got a medical condition and had to drop training, piece by piece.

Looking forward to picking it up now and initially a treadmill will work best for me.

    Yeah

There's lots of other ways to do aerobic exercise that don't involve impact on your joints, but if you're doing all this exercise in your garage then I really don't see where you're going to get the benefit? Its boring as hell.

I don't exercise because it supposedly makes me healthier, I do it becuase it gets me outside and completing a run/bike/swim provides a lot of satisfaction no matter how hard or easy it was.

Oh and If you're getting injured running then you really need to look at your technique, work on it and then slowly ramp up the distance. Technique is more important that footwear.

Personally I would steer well away from home treadmills. Unless they are top top spec (like in a gym) they will alter your gait so much that you will become more injury prone than road running.

Running outside is vastly superior than a treadmill.

Running outside works more muscles due to the constant changing of terrain and gradient. The breeze as your running keeps you cool and you can change speed whenever you like.

Treadmills are repetitive shite, you'll get more from running outside.
