Default Well done England and Hodgson

A team full of moderate players a far cry from the 'golden generation' and without a decent performance from their best player have been competitive and tried their best. arguments about team selection and whether one bog standard player should have started ahead of another are daft. The only way Engalnd could have done better was to have Rooney firing on all cylinders.

Expected fuck all yet feel disapointed. We deserved to go out tonight but I think the majority of them can pat themselves on the back

for the time he's had he's got us organised & difficult to breakdown but how boring are we going forward,i was willing us to pass it around & make space but the lads looked so tired especially 2nd half but i suppose it must of been hot down there.there was no spark in the side in all the games yet still we managed to get to the q/f & pennas where i thought young was unlucky as he's usually deadly accurate

I agree with all that. They did as well as could be expected. There was no media circus, no egos getting in the way, just a team of well organised and motivated players working hard for each other, making the most of their strengths, and getting around their limitations.Hodgson comes out of the tournament with great credit IMO - pretty much every decision bang on.

The big question mark is Rooney though. I'd give Carroll and Welbeck a run for a few games to see how they work as a partnership.

Why well done though? They achieved nothing less than what was expected of them and nothing more.

Unfortunately we are so far behind most of the other nations who were there in terms of technical ability.
We were fortunate IMO to beat Ukriane and if we had to play all of the teams there I think we would have only beaten the Irish and probably Poland. Denmark, Croatia and the Czechs all looked better sides than we did and I think we would have struggled to beat the Greeks and the Dutch all of who went home before us.

    11:55 PM.. Reason: mistakes

if capello had still been here it would've been 'get an englishman in, that was shite'. don't know in what fucking universe hodgson can be considered a better manager than capello though. couldn't change the formation to stop italy dominating, left young on and sat on the bench doing an impression of eriksson. 35 years of managerial 'excellence' my fucking balls.

I agree, we did just as well as could be expected.

England needs to drop the arrogance, we're not some super power any more in anything.
