As the OP stated

I think we were only linked because Wigan were after him, and we were about to sign Wigans old head-scout.

All the South American scouts I've read etc seemed to think Boselli would flop instantly, he's a goal poacher who was playing ahead of the best midfield in South America at the time. Strangely the same scouts thought Angeleri and Riveros would succeed though.
