    Default Dave grohl

    A truly amazing musician.

This song sums his talent up perfectly in my opinion, helped me through some shite times as well so it's bittersweet to listen to, superb nevertheless.

I wouldn't go that far, but he certainly puts most British indie/alternative musicians to shame.

I would, at the risk of sounding cliché he was born to make music. Great drummer, great guitarist and a very good lyricist as well.

Pretty good indie/alternative/rock drummer/guitarist and decent vocalist as well but in the grand scheme of things certainly not "great" at any of them.

    Yes, you should!

Seriously, though... come on, he's a pretty good modern pop-rock songwriter and I do enjoy his stuff but on drums he's not in the same league as "greats" like Dave Brubeck, Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Gene Krupa or Art Blakey, or even the modern greats like Mike Mangini, Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy.

On guitar, though highly entertaining, he's an "average-skilled modern rock guitarist" at best and quite some distance from being a "great guitarist".

Daley Thompson couldn't out-sprint the best sprinters, out jump the best jumpers etc, but he was a great athlete by virtue of being really good at several things. Could Brubeck sing & play guitar like Dave Grohl?

Mate, I can play guitar better than Dave Grohl, he's really not that good.

I don't doubt it mate. My point is that he performs well in several fields rather than excelling in one. My Daley Thompson analogy was a bit clumsier than I aimed for.
