    What was he saying?

    I started going durig the Smith era and think he was class.

    Built a great, pacey, youthful side - 2 promotions in 3 years, quality.

    No mention of SAFC, was talking about Stoke tonight. Also said he's now working for the FA now.

    Still hearing him brought some good memories back - from the darkest hour came some very bright moments.

    Nah mate, the one who turned down Stoke on a couple of occasions while he was manager of SAFC.

    He never said that. He said on arrival that he didn't believe Sunderland were as big as Stoke. After being here a short while he totally changed his mind.

    He also turned then down after relegtion.
