What exactly is it that makes certain groups of fans fall in to this category? Is there some kind of benchmark that if your a fan of Newcastle, Spurs or Liverpool you have to have a particular reasoning that you are much much better then you actually are
Althought to be fair to Liverpool at least historically they have a lot to crow about.
Reading that Spurs view on Darren Bent made me think what exactly have they done to think they are a 'big pond' as they like to refer to it as. As far as I can remember, and I cant be arsed to look it up, they have won a league cup in the last 20 years and made it in to the Champions League this season albeit after years of fairly obscure midtable mediocrity. Its not like they even have the 50,000 plus a week the Mags have to justify the 'big club' tag
You don't get this from your Villa or Everton fans, or even, West Ham much for all their criticism about harking back to the World Cup.
Newcastle seem to have mellowed since their meltdown but still struggle like yesterday with the concept that they 'should be beating shite like this' - Stoke may not be the prettiest to watch but are effective, and tellingly in to their 4th (?) season now in the prem, Where as the Mags are on their first tough season back.
Fine line between confidence and misplaced arrogance - But these two seem to have very little to boast about, one has won nothing in 50 years and the other little more in recent history, yet they go on like they are Barcelona, whilst going on about the less pressure at their smaller local rivals, like erm Boro and Fulham, who both ironically have made it to European cup finals in the past decade.
You honestly have to wonder about their sanity some times.
