Macbook question

I have had a macbook for about 6 months (one of the white ones). It has developed a small crack in its casing near the touch pad.

I was told that if I take it into an apple store they will just replace it with a new one.

Is this true?

They're usually good with returns and replacements. You'll have a hard time proving it's not due to your clumsiness unless it's a known issue with them.

mine cracked there after a few month well a bit had actually chipped off, i had to ring apple and get a repair code then take to a authorised apple repair centre and they replaced the whole bit in about an hour, was hoping for a new macbook

They will replace it, mine was cracked where the magnets? are when closing, right at the very edge of the casing.

White? Known problem if so. Mine (actually our lass' now; I got sick and got the 13" Pro) is on to its third bezel and fourth top casing - thank fuck for AppleCare.
