Dont give feck if its been Larsson'd, somewhat interesting article from Villas-Boas saying the big clubs should have B teams playing in the football league, e.g the championship.
Not sure how well this would work or how they would implement it in England. Barcelona B are one of the better teams in the 2nd tier of the Spanish league and they're not allowed to get promoted into La Liga, i presume they're not allowed to play in the Copa Del Rey either.
Obviously it must have some good effect on the youth coming through given that Barcelona are arguably the best team in the world right now and Spain are the European and World Champions.
Seems to me however that it would only contribute to the closed shop of Barcelona/Real Madrid winning the League every year.
If they gave every premier league team the right to field a B team (say in the Blue Square leagues) and work their way up the leagues. But what would happen if one of the premier league teams were relegated into the Championship, it would cause chaos if their B team was just taken out of the league system. Also, say if you gave B teams to the Premier League teams that finished in the European places or the Top 10, there would be the preverbial Liam Noble-esque hell on with the other teams in the League.
Seems like it would be unworkable in England, there is somewhat of a flux with the top teams in the English league given the resurgence of Man City and Spurs et al. Almost smacks to me of AVB scapegoating his own teams relatively poor performance by blaming it on the Youth system. On the flip side though the system they have in Spain is obviously contributing to their success at the European and Internationall level.
