    Default Protein Shakes

What's the deal with these ? I'm back on my diet from Monday and wanting to lose 2-3 stone. I'll be exercising - running, boxing bag in my garage, exercise bike, skipping. I'll be eating well and be dedicated to shifting the weight. Are these just for weight lifters and the likes or can you get ones that aid weight loss. I don't want to go on a shitty liquid diet that some people do so if these won't help then just say. I want to lose weight properly so that it stays off.

    Any help appreciated...

If you struggle to get sufficient protein through food, or if they're more convenient, or even if you just enjoy the taste, then they're worth buying. There's no point in making a protein shake fit into your diet just because most people in the gym chug them after a workout.

They're just almost pure protein taken from a source material - like whey protein from milk.

You don't need them and they'll do nothing special to help you lose weight.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think they'd aid weight loss but just thought I'd ask. I'll give it a miss, cheers...

I usually have one for my breakfast and supper with a piece of fruit mainly for convenience, i like milkshakes and the protein content doesn't go amiss if you are dieting.

i would never use a protein shake if i was just doing cardio, i only ever use it for weight training.

if you want to then google promax diet - like a meal replacement.

Again thats just if y our wanting to cut fat, probs best off using nothing though unless you wanna start building muscle then i would use shakes

Protein shakes are for building muscle, which wheys (see what I did there?) more than fat, so I would avoid them if your main goal is simply to lose weight.

Protein shakes are for ensuring adequate protein intake, it just so happens that the protein requirements associated with strength/hypertrophy training are significantly higher than the protein requirements associated with other forms of training. So no, protein shakes aren't exclusively for those looking to build muscle/strength and nor will they magically make you build muscle.
