I play football once a week with my mates, they're a good bunch, some are very good and others are basically just fit and can kick a ball like myself, so a mixed group. We all go for a bit fun like, noone there takes it too seriously. That said I was wondering if anyone knows of any resources, or can offer any general tips on how to improve generally?
I've always loved football since I was wee but was drawn to playing goal (becuase of Lionel Perez

) when I was young, was quite good, played for both my schools and such. But as a result I never learned to play an outfield position so the whole coordinating between playing with your head up and controlling the ball without looking I find tough. When I first started going I was happy enough to just play in goal but having played in defence for abit I enjoy it and want to get better, but it's all very inconsistent-good some weeks, then abysmal others. I'm strong and fit so good at disrupting plays and that but I want to be able to contribute as well rather than just knocking people off the ball and hoofing it. Always seem to be runnng into people's space when running up the pitch, or being just a second behind were I should be, that sort of thing.
Anyone in a similar position or experienced that sort of thing who might be able to offer some wisdom?
