You couldn't make it up. Some of the road schemes introduced lately are barmy. If I was a cynic I'd say they are trying to snarl up the roads so they can impose a congestion charge Although I agree that its a bit of a mare for pedestrians crossing the Redheugh, but I don't think flinging a set of traffic lights in will remedy the issue.

I avoid it altogether now and go through Washington/Felling, its been a proper piss take, contractor mistakes have delayed this, should have been finished in Oct, but now it's planned finish is this Summer.
