    Becoming a really bad road!

Possibly more traffic on this road now?

A few years ago there was a report published saying a certain stretch of the A19 was the worst for accidents in the country. I believe it was the stretch from Peterlee to the turn-off after Castle Eden. Anyway, the local news interviewed some bod from the government/highways agency near the Castle Eden junction. Sure enough, halfway through the interview you heard a loud screech and thud in the background as a couple of vehicles collided with each other.

Twas funny at the time but it could quite easily have been a serious accident instead of the minor bump it was.
