I have known several people in the past that were teachers and they have ranged from cane heads to football hooligans, hardly a respected position in society any more.

No shock there.

it was on BBC news earlier. they didn't say teacher, they said he worked in a school.

he did plead guilty, but the magistrates courts said they didn't have an appropriate charge - they can only charge up to 6 months - so his case, and many others, are being referred to crown court

Alexis Bailey became infatuated with a sixth form pupil, named “pupil A”, whom she taught at Thurston Community College, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, the General Teaching Council heard.
Despite the teacher, who was depressed and unhappy with her marriage, becoming “emotionally involved” with the pupil, the pair did not have a physical relationship, the closed in Birmingham was told.
But the pair had planned to begin a permanent relationship once the “particularly vulnerable” student, who cannot be named for legal reasons, graduated, it heard.
The boy’s parents told the GTC panel the relationship, which occurred between April and June 2008, had left an “adverse” effect on him.
The panel heard she disregarded her professional position despite being warned previously by line managers about her inappropriate behaviour.
