    Default Seahouses

Bellingham Show was ruled out as the missus didn't like the sound of it ('too many stuck up country-folk' was the assumption) so I took her to Seahouses instead.

What a brilliant place! Weather was a bit blustery but the craic in the local pubs (especially The Olde Ship Inn - where we stayed) was awesome.

It was RNLI day yesterday so there was loads going on and we also had a half day on Lindisfarne. Such was the windy weather, the causeway crossing was fun, I must say.

Nonetheless, I must warn other SMBers to watch out for hotel/B&B prices ... 58 notes per person per night, albeit in an apartment 'suite' overlooking the harbour. Too steep for me, I'm afraid.

A simple curry in the Bamburgh Castle Inn (over the road) would have been 12 or 13 notes each if you include a side-dish!

We normally have weekend breaks in Robin Hoods Bay and this would have easily competed had it not been for the profiteering!

Both just down the road from me - lovely places , but priced to fleece the well off southern tourists!

Lovely part of the world. Used to Holiday in the Caravan site to the south of the harbour as a kid. Used to spend hours searching the rock pools there.

Beadnell is well worth a visit as well, a lot quieter.

    I miss the Northumberland Coast

York is nice like but it gets boring being surrounded by nowt except flat cornfields for miles in every direction.

The N.East coast is completely under appreciated.
